Reason 1: The movement is asking for service, not a battery.
Even quartz watches have mechanical parts. Gears that turn the hands, lubrication that keeps them moving smoothly. Over years, that lubrication dries up or collects microscopic dust. The motor has to work harder to push the same hands, drawing more current than designed.
When you replace the battery and it dies again quickly, the problem isn’t the battery. The movement needs a service.
Reason 2: Water damage you don’t know about.
